Create a Countdown. Share the Link. That's It.
T-Minus is a free shareable countdown timer. Pick a date, get a link, send it to anyone — no sign-up, no app to install. The countdown lives inside the link itself, so it's private by design.
Make your countdown
Send this link to anyone — chat apps, email, social media. Whoever opens it sees a live countdown to the same moment.
How it works
Three steps. Thirty seconds. Zero accounts.
Name your countdown
Give it a title — your wedding, a product launch, exam day, a friend's birthday. Anything you're looking forward to.
Pick a date & time
Choose the exact moment. T-Minus converts it to a universal timestamp, so everyone counts down to the same instant no matter their time zone.
Share the link
Copy the generated link and send it anywhere — messages, email, social media. Anyone who opens it sees a live, ticking countdown.
How it works, in detail
The short version is three steps. Here is what actually happens at each one.
Name it and make it yours
Give your countdown a title and pick an occasion, then choose one of five themes to match the mood. This takes only a few seconds, and you can create as many countdowns as you like. There is no account to create and no form to fill in first.
Set the exact moment
Pick a date, and add a time if the moment matters down to the minute. If you leave it as an all-day event, it counts down to midnight in each viewer's own time zone instead. A date with a time is converted to one universal moment, so everyone counts down to the same instant.
Share one link
T-Minus turns your countdown into a single link that you can copy and paste anywhere — a group chat, an email, or a social post. Anyone who opens it sees the same live countdown ticking in their own browser. They do not need an account, an app, or even to know what T-Minus is.
What people use it for
One simple tool, endless occasions.
💒 Weddings & events
Share a beautiful countdown with guests. Put the link on invitations or your event page and build excitement together.
🚀 Product launches
Drop a countdown link in your announcement post. Followers watch the seconds tick down to launch moment — wherever they are in the world.
🎂 Birthdays
Turn on "repeat every year" and your birthday countdown renews itself automatically. Share it once, enjoy it forever.
📚 Exams & deadlines
Study groups share one link and stay motivated together. Nothing focuses the mind like watching the days disappear.
Why T-Minus
Built to be the simplest countdown tool on the internet.
🔒 Private by design
Your countdown's title and date are encoded directly into the link. Our servers never see or store them — there is nothing to leak.
🌍 Time-zone correct
A date with a time counts down to one exact global moment. An all-day date counts down to midnight in each viewer's own time zone.
🔁 Yearly repeat
Birthdays and holidays roll over automatically, so old links keep working year after year.
🎨 Themes
Five hand-tuned themes — from forest to neon — so your countdown matches the occasion.
📱 Works everywhere
Runs in any modern browser on phone or desktop. Add it to your home screen for one-tap access.
⚡ Free forever
No accounts, no paywalls, no limits on how many countdowns you create.
Popular uses
From exam halls to wedding aisles, here are six ways people put a shared countdown to work.
📚 Exams and study goals
A shared exam countdown turns a distant date into something you can see shrinking every day. Study groups pass one link around so everyone prepares against the same deadline. When the days drop into single figures, it is much harder to put revision off until tomorrow.
🏃 Training and fitness challenges
Counting down to a marathon, a tournament, or a 30-day fitness challenge keeps training honest. Share the link with a training partner and every skipped session becomes visible to someone else. The finish line stops feeling abstract when it is ticking down on your phone every morning.
🚀 Product launches
A launch countdown builds anticipation that a plain announcement date cannot. Drop the link into your announcement post and followers across every time zone watch the same seconds disappear. When the timer hits zero, everyone knows the product is live at the same moment.
✈️ Trips and vacations
A trip countdown makes the wait part of the fun, especially when the whole travel group shares one link. Friends and family can follow the same countdown to departure day, whether they live in the same city or on another continent. It also settles the usual question of exactly when everyone needs to be at the airport.
💒 Weddings
Couples share a wedding countdown with guests months in advance, and the link often ends up on invitations and event pages. Guests in different time zones all count down to the same ceremony moment. As the number shrinks, excitement builds without anyone having to send another reminder.
🎯 New Year goals
A New Year goal feels vague until it has a deadline attached to it. Set a countdown to the date you want to reach your goal — a first 10K, a finished portfolio, or a language exam — and share it with someone who will ask how it went. The ticking timer turns a resolution into a promise with a date on it.
Frequently asked questions
Is T-Minus free?
Yes. Creating and sharing countdowns is completely free, with no account required and no limits.
Do I need an account or an app?
No. Everything happens in your browser. Pick a title and a date, get a link, share it — that's the whole process.
How does a shareable countdown link work?
The countdown's title, date and settings are encoded into the link itself, in the part of the URL after the # symbol. Browsers never send that part to any server, so when someone opens your link, their own browser reads the data and renders the countdown locally. Our servers never see your countdown data.
Will my friends in other time zones see the correct countdown?
Yes. If you set a specific time, it's converted to a universal timestamp (UTC) when the link is created. Everyone who opens the link counts down to the exact same moment, displayed in their own local time. If you choose an all-day event, it counts down to midnight in each viewer's own time zone instead.
What happens when the countdown reaches zero?
The page celebrates with a confetti animation, then switches to counting up — showing how much time has passed since the moment. With yearly repeat turned on, it rolls over to next year's date automatically.
Can I use it for birthdays every year?
Yes — tick "Repeat every year" when creating your countdown. After the date passes, the same link starts counting down to next year's date.
More questions
A few more things people ask before sharing their first countdown.
Does my countdown link ever expire?
No. Your countdown is stored in the link itself, not on our servers, so there is no account or record that can expire. As long as you keep the link, it keeps working. If the date has already passed, the page counts up from that moment instead, unless yearly repeat rolls it over to next year.
Can I change a countdown after I have shared it?
Not in place, because the title and date live inside the link you already sent. To change anything, simply create a new countdown with the updated details and share the new link. It takes only seconds, and the old link keeps showing the original countdown.
Who can see my countdown?
Anyone who has the link can open it, and nobody else can find it. There is no public list of countdowns and no search that reveals yours. Because our servers never receive or store your countdown data, there is nothing on our side for anyone else to discover.
Can I put a countdown on an invitation or an event page?
Yes. Just paste the link into your invitation, event page, group chat, or social post. Guests open it in any modern browser on a phone or a computer. They do not need an account or an app to see the live countdown.
